fit for a 5k in a month?

My horse has been out of work for months due to my ill-health. There's a sponsored ride I'd like to take part in but it's in a month's time. The shortest course is 5k. Would I be able to get him fit enough to do this comfortable?

Yes almost certainly as long as you're not planning on galloping the whole thing. 5km is not very far at all. as long as you're sensible you shouldn't have a problem.

The shortest round the block ride I do is 3 miles. It takes me between 20 and 40 minutes depending on gaits. 40 is walk all the way.
