I tried my cob in a hanging snaffle tonight - the same size as his usual bit. When I took it off I was a bit upset to see it had marked the sides of his lips - not cut them at all - just made them "greyer" if that makes sense? It seems that the lower part of the bit had rubbed as it rotated in his mouth. It is a Mark Todd bit and has no sharp bits. Should I get a wider one, or fit it lower? Or will I still get this problem due to the rotation of the bit and his fleshy lips? Thanks.

Thats odd, I use one and have never had a problem. My boy has a fleshy mouth too. I would have thought the movement of this bit is minimal even though it is supposed to give some poll presure. If he is that sensitive I wouldnt reccomend trying bit rubbers as they rubbed my horse really badly. Possibly try the next size???
