I have had this elastic breastplate for a couple of years. It is the one that attaches to the girth either side and has a strap over the neck.
Over the winter I have been using a hunting breastplate but has now gone back to using the elastic one.
I think it has either stretched a bit or Hattie has lost from weight from her shoulders so had to tighten it but now I'm not sure if I have fitted it correctly.
This is a pic of it before she was ridden.
I can get a hand width on the front of a chest and about a hand and a half on the shoulder.
When ridden in walk the slack is taken up, trot there is a little bit of stretch in the elastic on the sides and canter a little more on the leading leg shoulder.
This is a pic after she was ridden (excuse the sweat)
Is this too loose? She only really needs it for canter work or jumping.
