fit of ideal jessica saddle compared to albion k2

i do not like ideals. i would always go for a jessica. each fit differs to each horse. depends on the conformational aspects of your horses trunk

My horse is very short in the back - the Ideal saddles were too long for him, the Albion K2 GP was too long, so had to go for an Albion K2 jump in the end - great saddle

My three horses are all short backed and all have Ideal Jessica Dressage saddles, I love the Ideal range as they are very versatile and mould well to the shape of the horses. I also have the Event/VSD saddles and when the horses change shape, as they do my saddler comes out and plays with the trees to make them fit comfortably. I would recommend the Ideal Jessica every time.

I normally ride my horse in a k2 saddle, but when I was looking for a dressage saddle, I tried on an Ideal Jessica. It didn't fit anywhere near him, despite being the same size, and the saddler told me that they are very different saddles, made on very different trees. So I guess it depends on your horse because no Ideal Jessica fitted my horse, but then I think he is a slightly funny shape!

But the Jessica IS by Ideal - am confused !

I would say width-wise they are fairly close in the way they measure - however I agree with whoever said the Ideal Jessica can measure slightly long - I tried two labelled as 17" but I measured them both as 17.5. Also there are at least two different tree types used in the Jessica, one suited my mare beautifully and the other one was nowhere near

- quite annoying really.

Look under the flap where the fitting is printed, it should have WB or TB next to the Medium/Medium wide stamp. I believe (and stand o be corrected!) the WB tree is closer suited to the ideal, as it has shorter points similar to the Ideals...

You would probably need a saddler to tell you unfortunately. Although thats not infallible as one saddler swore up down and sideways that the Ideal Jessica he had in was on the same tree as the one I had ordered from Rideaway - however when I tried it on the two saddles couldnt have been more different so he was obviously wrong - sorry, not much help to you
