I own a lovely 16.2hh 13yo tb but at the moment is fairly unfit having been lame all summer and me having limited riding time. He's lacking muscle currently but I know he'll look a million dollars when he's in shape! 
As of next month, I'll have 4 weeks off and then much more riding time in the new year.
(At the moment we're hacking slowly and doing light work in the school at weekends)
Can anyone suggest or give tips as to how I go about building up his fitness? I hope to do local shows and the odd ODE/ xc schooling session when he's fit enough but nothing too strenuous!
Ps. the land is fairly flat in the area so can't really do hill work and I have a lunging kit if lunging is a good idea? All suggestions appreciated
