I'm trying to improve my pony's fitness both for weight loss and in preparation for a few small hunter trials.
She's not totally unfit, just a very average leisure pony at the moment. I'm making sure that our hacks are active with lots of trotting up hills and long canters when possible.
Tonight we did something like interval training in one of the yard fields, doing long canters followed by trots then long canters again.
I didn't go overboard because I didn't want to overdo it early on but she was puffing and had worked up a sweat. (Though seemed to recover ok)
We are due to school tomorrow, should I just do a normal (prelim level) walk, trot, canter schooling session or should I go easy on her after tonight's workout?
