How does everyone cope with the wet in terms of getting their horses fit?
I usually do interval trainning picking it up slowly. We have a large farmers field with canter path around the edge which we can use but everything is so sloppy and water logged.
My first event isn't untill end of march but starting to think about how I'll get the faster work in.
We start our xc sessions mid feb.

so,
1)Anyone any other ideas?
2) Just for interest when does everyone start their fitening work?

Hi there

This is a topic on E-Venting just now - I replied this morning to it:
http://e-venting.co.uk/?p=132

My horse is in light work just now, bit of jumping at the weekend (until I fell off on Sat!)
and i aim to start his fitness 6 weeks before the event but I would say he has a reasonable level of fitness - can jump two SJ rounds after travelling an hour to a show, and just starts to get tired when jumping a third round (after being warmed up twice) so I think 6 weeks should be fine for him - he is aimed at BE100.

My interval training will start in the arena - I have written what I do on the post.
