fitting a pelham

i have a pelham which came with a curb chain on, ive bought as elastic curb for it instead but cant seem to figure out how to swap them over?
one side of the chain unhooks but the other doesnt (unless we bend the metal)
also how do i fit the elastic one ive got the chain off?

Just wondering... and ELASTIC curb???

Where is the sense in that... not being rude, just asking?

There are 3 types of curb - chain, leather and elastic.
The chain is the most severe, going down to elastic which just exerts a gentle pressure. However, the the effectiveness is also affected by the tightness of the curb.
The curb also stops the shanks of the pelham from coming back too far and putting more pressure on the poll.

A curb chain also stops the shanks over rotating and inverting. - especially with weymouths . (I've been told this by FMM)
