Fitting tendon boots

I tried tendon boots on my pony this morning and I'm not sure how they should fit. On one hole they seemed a touch loose, the next hole seemed too tight. I opted for the tighter of the holes as I didn't want them to slip and checked on them after 20 minutes. When I came to take them off they had left slight dents on her legs where the straps go. The straps are attached to elastic but it doesn't give much.
How should they fit? I'll try the looser hole next time and if I'm still not happy ill give up and go back to the sports boots.

Snug but not too tight they leave marks!

It is this very reason I don't like boots with buckles or billets. I much prefer Velcro as you can alter the fit much more and aren't dictated to by the holes in the straps.
Buckle and billet straps tend to be much thinner cutting in more if they are too tight?! Velcro tend to be just one wide strap maybe two.

I suppose tighter is better than loose as you dont want sand etc getting up between the leg and boot. perhaps you could place something up front like a pad of sponge or some fleece bandage to protect the leg for the pressure of the straps Sorry can help you much more.

Thanks P4NN. I'll try the looser hole next time. If that fails I'll give up, sell them and go back to the sports boots. I only tried them because they came with my pony when I bought her, they've been sat in a box for 2 years and I thought I'd give them a whirl.
