After a disasterous run at Bishop Burton 2 weeks ago, we all thought it would be a good idea if Fitz had another pre regional outing.... so off we went to VV, with the idea of doing 3 test to really get to grips with the spooking.
Epic drive which took longer than it should and so only had 25 mins for first warm up. He felt good but didnt want to risk any naughties, the aim for N39 was to get round in control, with no spooks and lots of submission, so we stayed nice and round and did a loveky safe test, which felt great, to come 2nd with 67% all the comments being that he was too deep/poll low, which was the aim so thats fine
Second test was elem 42, picked him up a bit more but still kept him contained, he seemed to develop a nervous tick just before he went in which made life a bit tricky. Did an ok test but few mistakes and he could have been a bit more up, but no spooking Came 1st overall with 68%
Discovered the nervous tick was in fact a really itchy nose, that he couldnt wait to scratch! Bless him
Decided to do the last test even though he had been very good in the others as he felt fresh still and wanted to run through elem 59 in a non spooky mood to see how he coped with a more complicated test. He was great, got him much more up and even though we made a few babish mistakes and had a bit of a wobble trying to contain the canter down the centre line he came second overall with 67%!
So already half qualified for the summer regionals
some pics from today
and a little video from just before xmas...
