Took Fitz to Easton collage today to do 2 novices, he was quite on edge to get ready and very bouncy in the warm up, so I mainly spent the time trying to wear him out. He settled down and worked nicely. Went in and did a very sensible test, just a bit tense in the walk but otherwise ok, halts were rather brief though....

anyway he scored a very respectable 69% and 2nd in the open section :)

Second test was the rather nasty novice 37 which rode more like a elementary so was quite an ask of a very green 5yr old, he did his best but the canter work got the better of him and blew his brains some what, also we manage to bump into the judges car while trotting round (spooking at the boards) so I think she rather took against us! managed to come 3rd. Doing the same test again next week so hopefully can work on the canter a bit this week.

Anyway, pics from the warm up

The prob is, that I am not convinced that all judges see it as a Novice test - I think sometimes judges fall in to the trap of having elem expectations of the movements. Diff to explain, but when in the collective comments you are asking for more power and engagement from a Novice horse, your thought processes are going a little wrong......

There. Rant over.
