Has anyone had a saddle with flair changed back to flock or know how much it would be? It was £250 to convert to flair but it either needs topping up or changing back to flock. Have read some bad things about flair though and that its no good for endurance or riding for more than 2 hours :( Anyone's knowledge/experiences greatly appreciated please :D I have just bought the saddle so its all new to me

I changed from Flair back to flock. It costs whatever your saddler charges for a total reflock so in my case about £75.
The air in the Flair panels had gone down and the bags had emptied. The saddler was not sure if this was not sure if this was a result of a puncture or natural loss of air pressure over time. He said he could refill the bags but the only way to check it wasn't a puncture would be to ride in it and see if they emptied - if they did this would have been very painful for my horse so I simply had it reflocked. Shame as when the Flair was working properly I had actually really liked it but I didn't 'trust' it anymore.

Im worried they could be punctured too, the lady hasnt used the saddle for 3 years so it could be either reason :( I liked the idea of flair but im worried about it causing problems too if its not topped back up properly. I was going to resell but that would be a shame as its a lovely saddle! Will ask saddler to reflock, thank you for the help :D

I just want to check, do you mean FLAIR or CAIR? If it is FLAIR then you can have more air put in them as they can be adjusted, so you might not need to remove them if that would solve the problem.

definitely flair, can get it topped up although im not sure where but i've since read so many problems with the system that I dont know whether to keep it and find someone who tops them up or just change back to flock?

I thought it would be better for the horses back but have since read lots of stories where it has created pressure sores which it is meant to eliminate in the first place so now I dont know what to do for the best :(

i love flair had a jessica that i got done years back and now have a wow & also a show saddle thats flaired, not keen riding in anything that isnt flaired, it is easy to alter so cant see why you cant get air put back in, they do delfate if not used for years and make sure when you do put air in them that you pop a bit of silicon in the pipes before puting the valve on this helps stop any leaks;)

Why not try it once sorted as very soft for the horses back. I've had it in my dressage saddle for several years and had no problems with it, much prefer it to flock :D

i need to find somewhere that puts the air back in first then and see what they think? I was all for it and bought it because it had flair until I read the horror stories lol! He is having chiro every 4 weeks at the min so I really dont want to create any other problems from the saddle, probably being over cautious :)

I have my flair saddle checked annually. My saddle fitter comes to the yard and checks the saddle on the horse and with me on board and makes any adjustments that are needed. I have ridden in this saddle for over 10 years and it has been fine to date.
I wouldn't recommend taking the saddle to the saddler - they really need to see it on the horse.
