I had Flair fitted to an Albion saddle a couple of years ago and it has been fab, sadly the saddle is miles too big for my new horse, hence I decided to sell it. This is when the shock came, the saddlery said that it was only worth half the value of a traditionally flocked saddle..... I'm flabbergasted but maybe Flair is no longer considered an asset? I'd preferred it to Cair but it now seems that I have more chance of selling the Bates DR saddle which has Cair!!

Do you think FLair is 'out', and if so why?

I would never use Flair or Cair - I've seen far more problems with air than traditional flocking! I think a lot of people are realising this now, however, not enough to halve the value - I think your saddler is being a bit harsh!

That is plain crazy

Your saddler is clearly one of many who just are not interested in second hand saddles.

Your best bet is eBay, and I would say flair should add a premium rather than detract from the price.

Having ridden in Cair, Flair, Latex, Serge and wool flocked panel my preference is flair. In fact despite my current problems with weird dry patches my horse is jumping out of his skin in his WOW saddle and really using his shoulders when jumping for the first time!

That does not seem right to me !! I would expect to get around double that for a 2 year old K2. If you don't need to part exchange it in order to buy a new one, think it's definitely worth sticking it on ebay. My saddler said he would give me £400 for my Bates GP with Cair to p/ex.

Catherine - does the saddler have a double barrelled surname by any chance (LOL - you MUST know who I'm talking about

)

There's no way you'll only get £250 for that - go elsewhere!

How did you guess! To be fair though, I bought the saddle from them and had the Flair added later - I only live 10 mins from First Thought at Kingston and the temptation was just too much!
