Just spent £33 on a tub and the info says to discard after 24 hours. Cream from a tube after 7 days!!

surely this isn’t correct? Who’s going to buy a tub then bin it after the first day

Flamazine isn't licenced for horses, so expect the instructions refer to human use. Burns are highly susceptible to infection so it makes sense that the human advice is to discard after 24 hours, particularly as a patient requiring a tub size would have extensive burns.
For horses, it's commonly used for mud fever which is different as the need for a sterile environment isn't practical on legs. However, I've seen manky old tubs mixed with mud bring brought out of tack boxes that were first opened a couple of years ago. There's a middle ground here somewhere.

For human use yes. I had tubes of the stuff through radiation treatment as i was burnt to a crisp. Fantastic stuff which I stored when I healed. It ended up on my horse with LV.

The hospital told me to be very careful about infection and told me to put the cream directly to the burns and not on my fingers first. I was given a new tube everyday.

I buy tubs for the horse now and use gloves to apply it to his legs. Tub lasts a good while.

I used a 2 year out of date, probably opened the year before that on my horse who had a fight with a fence and lost! A massive fist sized hole in his chest healed with nothing more than a minor thin line scar!

Are you using for mud fever? Try Shapley's MTG - it's really good. :) It will also grow hair of mane/tail or over some old scars. Only caution would be that it can make them sunburn if used and then chucked out in the sun (I've only ever seen this when used on a horse who had rain scald over his back/rump, think legs should be fine as they're not as directly exposed)

another who is in mourning for dermobian. Has anyone bought any on the internet from Aus? did it work, did it get in OK?
I was buying it off the t'internet a couple of years ago and then received a threatening letter from some government department stating that if I didn't stop buying it, I was liable to a fine of £2k!! I was traumatised and didn't buy any more but still have a bit left for a rainy day. Getting a relative to bring some over sounds eminently sensible!!

I've got a tub sitting around that I've had for about 2 years although admittedly it's getting a bit empty now. As it's normally used on burns & you need to be very careful about infection all the info will be geared towards that
