I've had to get Lil a new bridle and it comes with a plain cavesson noseband which is lovely apart from the fact that she needs something a little bit more for when she has a snaffle in to do dressage.

Am I right in thinking that a drop is often better than a flash?

Lil would have an absolute fit if I went anywhere near her with a standing martingale!

Lol Mrs M, think you should have sponsorship from Cadburys for making us all hungry everytime you post!

A drop has a much more specific action than a flash and is dressage legal, I prefer them for my ponies, they prefer them as well!

Thanks, that was kind of what I thought but I wasn't sure how its different. Don't want different to be worse! Can anyone explain how they work differently?

and i also wouldnt feel ashamed because that website is produced by someone with a definate bias and flashes are NOT the work of the devil she makes them out to be if adjusted correctly!

probably 99% of the time i opt for a flash over a drop and have only ever encountered one horse that went noticably better in the drop.

Would much prefer a drop as well but it really difficult to find a complete bridle with one, they usually seem to have flashes or cranks:(

Definatly don't be ashamed. The website is written by someone with a clear bias, but it does help to explain the differences. I should have said to keep that in mind, and be aware the main problem with flashes is that many are over-tightened.

I'm afraid that I started riding in the days before flashes were invented, so I suppose that I'm biased, but even my cob, who crosses her jaw in a flash and grakle stays soft in her mouth in a drop!
