flash strap

Can you help settle an argument for me!! Could anyone tell me what way up to buckle a flash strap, ie with the end of the strap facing up towards the face and tucked into the flash attachment, or the end of the strap facing down towards the ground into a keeper? Also, does it matter which way?

Not sure which is actually correct but when I used one i had it pointing down into keeper. I have noticed alot the other way but I don't like to see the end of the strap pointing up!!
