I broke my youngster last year and want to start having regular lessons to help me school him. I aspire to do some affiliated dressage (one day!), but we are both far from that at the moment. So I'm looking for someone competant, but patient with rubbish riders and green youngsters.

I had regular lessons with a great dressage instructor in my teens to help me bring on youngsters, but I took a few years off riding to go to uni (except backing the odd pony) and am shocked at how rubbish I've become! I'm really nervous about starting riding "properly" again, let alone being bullied back into shape.. :-s

I have excellent facilities at my yard, so someone to travel to us would be ace.
I'm quite new to the area...what do people generally charge around here?

My instructor is excellent but would probably struggle to travel to you, but you could ask! Her website is www.aspire-equestrian.com.

A few people at my yard (Berkshire / Oxon border) have lessons with Diane Followel, who's a classical instructor. She also looks very good and can also help with groundwork, which could be useful for a youngster.

Thanks :)
There seem to be a few instructors on that website. Who do you have?
I'll google Diane too.

I was chatting to an instructor at (my parents) home not too long ago who basically had a go at me as she hates seeing novices try and bring youngsters on -I know it's not ideal, but it's what I've got. Essentially I really don't want to end up paying to get moaned at, so friendly mentions only please :)

Where abouts are you and would you consider travelling yourself?
Simon Battram is very good and although not local he does travel to Oxon for regular clinics, he has a website.
Damien Hallam and his partner, Douglas Hibbert are based in Highmoor, just outside Henley. Douglas in particular would be a good person to try although he is quite expensive and you would most likely need to travel to him.
Alternatively Karen Crago in Pangbourne has a fair reputation although I haven't used her myself.

Thanks.
I don't have any transport at the moment, though I'm sure I could russle something up - it's a time thing as well. For now I'd really like someone to come to us.

I'll give them a google :)
