Help! My dog is 3 years old and for the first time he's got fleas! They are driving me mad! I get bitten to death :( no one else in the house seems to get bitten thou?

What are the best products for killing the fleas on the dog and my home?

Also I'm getting a kitten on Sunday so what products are good for kittens/cats?

I've used a household spray from the pet shop in the house, frontline on the dog and bathed him but still he has fleas!!!! My dad says the vet told him frontline does not work for dogs anymore only cats!?

Thank you! :)

Frontline doesn't work on one of my dogs either, I don't know why but vet recomended Advocate which works very well. Also house sprays from the pet shops are not as effective as the ones you can get from your vet.

If you've never used frontline it will work.....stopped working on my boy after 2 years so I use efipro which you can buy online. Its half the price and has the same active ingredient but oddly it works!

frontline and efipro are the same product so strange that one works and the other does not

try advocate or stronghold (for both the dogs and cat) and use indorex spray in the house, the cat has to big/old enough to use advocate or stronghold though so you will need to check this

Yep, i said it was the same but efipro works! There is one you must not use for dogs if you have a cat as its lethal to cats OP.....worth googling

Hi go to your vets and see what they recommend as it will be a lot more effective than products from a pet shop.Advocate and Stronghold are really effective as is Indorex environment spray. You need to clear the problem before bringing the kitten into the house as if the kitten picks up a heavy infestation it can become unwell.

Frontline doesn't work on my dog or cats anymore.

I use Advocate which you can only get from your vet (or online if you have a vet prescription). You will also need to spray your house with a product such as Acclaim or Indorex, most products you can buy from a supermarket don't actually work.

I had a flea problem too and used Frontline Combo on the cats and frontline on the dog. Used a spray called RIP from the vets, it's about £20 but worth it. Also hoovered every day and did the car and bedding too with spray and hoover. Empty the hoover after use and spray that too. Not seen one for ages now. :)

I use Advocate for both dog and cats - however I always check and re-check I have the cat or dog variant before applying (the size difference is a giveaway :-) )
The dog variant applied to a cat can be fatal, and it's pretty potent stuff, so I try and stop the cat cuddling up to the dog until its dried - i'd be even more cautious with a kitten.
