I have used then and they did help a little but like everything they are not a miracle cure. I have a habit of blocking my left hand and it did help with that, i could feel him better and could relax easier.
i have a pair and tend to put them on horses i am teaching if their riders have less than steady hands.
it helps the horse to relax over the back without being hindered by hard/unsteady hands. once the horse is relaxed in its jaw it is much easier for the rider to begin to feel the contact instead of feeling like the bridle is hanging on the wall!
once the cycle is broken, you can take them off and both horse and rider should feel a bit more confident in the contact
Used them few times - pony got stronger (ha) - put them on ebay and someone paid more than I bought them for. Found using a neck strap and half halting with this help us more
I use them as I also find I block my left hand, my mare has a very very soft mouth that breaks down if you even take as much as a firm contact and these have made a huge difference, much softer.
Hi
I bought some for my cob as he was snatching at the reins something rotten, my hands were red and my arms were being pulled out of their sockets!! have to say they didn't help at all. Think they are going mouldy in my tack graveyard now. LOL
I used them for my mare as she leant on my hands but if I gave her an inch she would take off. The little bit of give in them meant she didn't have anything to fight against so after a while she started softening and going really nicely so I took them off - we haven't needed them since
