It's time for me to concede that I am becoming old and creaky and start making life a bit easier. My knees and ankles tend to ache now towards the end of a long hack, particularly if we've been doing fast work. A friend has recommended flexi strirrups, which I like the idea of but have no personal experience with. The Sprengers are a little "OUCH" price wise - does anyone have any recommendation for less expensive versions please and do you find they help with the achy bits?

Yes they definitely work!!- I used to get knee and hip pain, and I've had these type of stirrups for years and they make it so much more comfortable for me, I have the Sprengers and they are a better comfort wise i think than the flexi stirrups you can get (i have some of the cheaper flexi stirrups ones as well) but- the flexi stirrups are better than normal stirrups if that sort of makes sense!

May be worth looking on ebay for a secondhand pair of sprengers as they are sometimes on there quite cheap!

I have no idea what make mine are, they are second hand but they are not sprenger. However they are great and even thought i'm only 25 they've helped with my knee problems enormously.

I've just got my flexi stirrups today and WOW what a difference. :) They are sooooooo comfortable to ride in. Mine aren't the proper 'sprenger' ones, I thought the same about the price!!!!

I got stirrups similiar to Sprenger from Robinsons for about £25.00. They are really good and help absorb some impact from my feet/legs to my back (or so the theory goes). I also have a very good gel seat saver thing from Le Mieux which I can't for the life of me find on the internet. I got it from the Equine Event. It really helps with a disc problem in my back as do the stirrups.

They are very good, I was sceptical about them but managed to pick up some quite cheaply at a tack sale. My achey knees and ankles are a thing of the past (for now at any rate ;) )

I've got the cheaper version and love them. At my age I need all the help I can get! My only concern is the weight of them.
