Hi,
I was wondering if anyone on here had any experience with flexible tree saddles?? Any brand recommendations? I know Philippe Fontaine saddles are flex trees, has anyone ever ridden In one?

Hi Billyboo, I have a flexee heather moffet saddle ( the older version one where you can also move the 'tree' panels. )My pony is very hard to fit due to being extremely wide and some muscle assymetry. I tried the newer one on trial but it slipped despite the shims but i am finding this one isn't perhaps because i can adjust the panels aswell. Anyway personally i find them very comfy, i have the dressage version and my friend now has the new flexee finesse gp version. i haven't tried any other brands however to compare.

Solution saddles are the only flexible saddles for me. They have no tree at all, which eliminates the risk of something rigid 'flexing' in all the wrong places. It also means that it really is very adjustable.

Love mine. Saved me from going mad/giving up on hippocob.

Worth a google!

I had a Heather Moffatt FlexEE pre-gullet version.

The panels on it were fastened with velcro and you could move them where you wanted them to be.

Damn thing was a total waste of time and effort. Couldn't ever get a decent fit with it on either of my two horses and it was a permanent fiddle and faff of shimming and padding with the cussed thing.

In the end I go so sick of it that I e-bayed it: best thing I ever did, total PITA.

I ride treeless now in a Tree Free "Tor" saddle. Love it. Best saddle I've ever ridden in and it fits everything I've got from a 12.2 Exmoor, through to a Welsh D, to a 15.1 wide chunky cob.

Thanks everyone! I will definitely have to look into the solution. I'm after a dressage saddle and I love the solution's traditional look. Do you know where they are made? Anyone ridden in a Philippe Fontaine??

Another vote for Solutions from me too, we have one each for Sis and I (and a "spare" dressage saddle) They allow Sis's Draught mare to really use her shoulders and have hugely helped my older Appy work more straight and balance up her slight asymetry.

Heather Moffett flexEE, best thing I ever bought, synthetic dressage version with gullets and adjustable panels. Had years of problems with treed saddles, this one was a revelation, very comfortable, extremely easy to self-fit and horse goes like a dream in it. Couldn't be more pleased with it.
Would love to have had a solution, but way out of my budget unfortunately.

yes, if i had the budget i would go for a solution saddle but my budget doesn't stretch that far at the moment, i think the HM flexee is a good cheaper option especially if your buying 2nd/3rd hand.
