Has anyone tried a flexigirth??, if so are they as good as they claim to be??

I have an extremely wide, but sometimes quite sharp four year old with zero withers and its not going to be long before she shoots off one way and the saddle and I go the other.
The saddle has been professionally fitted and I use an Acavallo thin sticky pad but more stability would be helpful.

Hoping as she gets older she will change shape and sprout some wither.

I am seriously considering getting one as my McTimony lady recommended them. I have seen some very positive posts on other forums about them as well.

I believe you can get one on trial if you contact them.

I use the dressage one with my Freeform saddle and we like it.

For the price, I think it's a really good product.

I absolutely swear by them and wont use anything else on my horses!!

The general concept of them is that rather than traditional elasticated girths which just has the elastic at the ends of the girths which can encourage over-tightening the elastic in the flexigirth is situated in the centre of the girth over the horses sternum (pictures will show you better!). Because of this when the horse has been worked and is breathing heavier the girth will expand making it far comfier for the horse. They also add stability because of the material they're made out of and you generally find they dont have to be 'tightened' as much as other girths!
(As you can tell I love them!!)

Thanks for your replies, sounds like once you have oone you are hooked. I now have a dilema as it seems the Stuben Trevira cord girth has excellent anti slip properties too, so now don't know what to do!

On balance, I would think the flexi-girth is kinder as you don't have to do it up as tight as a conventional one and it takes the pressure off their sternum.

Thats a good deal......but sadly my roly poly needs a 52"

Can anyone who has a flexigirth tell me what its made of, on the website it looks like the stuff car seatbelts are made of!!

The central elastic is made from a heavy duty cotton based elastic & yes your right..the webbing is the stuff car seatbelts are made of! But I figure if I put my life in the hands of my seatbelt everyday surely its got to be the safiest thing for a girth to be made of...plus because of it being seatbelt webbing it has anti chafe and anti-sweat properties...I've found it leaves absolutely no marks on my horses and they hardly sweat at all where their girths been!

(I contacted flexigirth before I bought mine to ask the exact same question!)
