Are you doing BD or UA? If BD you'll find that 99% of people wear white breeches with a black or navy jacket, even though tweed is allowed. You see more variation at unaffiliated shiws, but still most people wear white.

I heard that BD have changed the rules to allow more variation in colour, but I'm not seeing it on the ground yet.

if you want maximum use of your outfit I'd buy beige breeches and a hacking jacket. Then you can wear them for everything.

I used to wear beige breeches and a tweed jacket and tie when I did BD at prelim and novice and from elementary on I wore either my black or blue jacket with matching hat (depending on the weather as my blue jacket is a lot lighter to wear) and pale cream breeches.

Most people do wear white breeches/tights and although I bought a pair of the white Flexars I haven't competed in them yet.

I wear my White Flexars all the time with a Navy jacket! I do have the biscuit ones but haven't worn them yet as I do prefer white.
