Flies ??? reactions

My horse has had fly spray on and fly rug still come in with swollen sheath/ bites and swollen under his chest ??? anybody good recipes for better fly spray

Millie has come up in hives from fly bites this last week. She wears a fly rug too.

I have given up with fly spray altogether now. I just use cattle Spot On once every 6 weeks and don't have to think about flies at all.

Midges have suddenly got really bad. Normal spray I always get something with DEET in it. I also use Deosect which you dilute with water and lasts longer on the horse so only do about once a week but it’s a proper insecticide similar to Tri-tec so you have to use carefully. I also put Vaseline or some other barrier cream on my geldings man parts and mid-line.
