Noticed a few Gnats/ bugs in her ears, wiped them out with a baby wipe and there was some bloody on it.

Anything else i can do other than clean out and fly cream / vaseline?

Baby oil, sudocrem, vaseline, liquid paraffin (food grade mineral oil, not kerosine) all work, also for teats and sheaths. Just a little rubbed in the hairs and at the top with fingers. Personally I don't put chemical fly repellants in ears.

no need for vet for this it happens a lot, most horses get them

I either use a mile tea tree solution or green oil either will work great without having cream all stuck in the ears

I wouldnt worry about it and Im a worrier :).
I dont put any chemicals in the ear either. I have used a roll on fly spray on the edge of the ear though but to be honest I dont think any fly spray really works. My boy cant cope without his mask but maybe thats because Ive made him a bit soft :)

As above dont bother with lotions and potions just buy a fly mask with ears. My sisters horse wears his mask 24/7 from end april till he comes in around begining sept. If he doesnt wear it he stands in corner nodding his head as soon as the fly mask is put on he starts eating again. The shires fly masks are very good and not too expensive and they fit very well.

I noticed this with my mare aswell. I just cleaned it out with a baby wipe, put some sudo cream on and invested in a mask with ears. She doesn't have any bother now.
