My horse was kicked 4 weeks ago and has a splint which is going down nicely the only problem is the small wound. It must itch as its healing then he rubs and of course the flies get to it.I just cant get it to heal.Last year I found brilliant product that sealed the wounds but I cant find it anymore anyone have any ideas what I can put on it to seal it from flies. Last resort is boots for human wound sealer has anyone tried it? thanks

Plaster it in sudocream. All works a treat. Are you sure though that there is no material in it that is preventing it from healing???

honey is the best thing for keeping flys off the cut - also helps the scarring

YO put it on pony after terrible driving accident and no proud flesh and very little scarring!

I have been using sudocream and the anti biotic spray the vet gave me before.Trouble is sudocream rubs off when he rolls or lays down as its just under the knee.I had a small piece of hay in it but flushed that out its clean but open about the size of 5 p .Thanks

Try that spray on plaster stuff you can get - i use something similar that i got from hospital that i used to work at, it seals the wound but lets it breath, and doesnt rub off.

Garlic in the water when you wash the wound. Put a teaspoon of garlic powder in aabout 2 pints of water, use an irregation syringe to wash the wound. Nice healing, with no white hair or proud skin and the flies keep off the garlic.

Not that I use this but a lady at the yard up the road from me who used to train point to pointers swears by Vick, you know the stuff you put on chests......! she uses it on everything, like I use Sudocrem

I used to use this for all my horses. Green Oils is great it helps speed the healing and is thick like vaseline so stays put and take alot to get it off.

Also cold Tea is very good for keeping flies away and also encourages healing. But if the wound is slightly open green oils is the best thing to use
