I am drawn to this stallion, he looks perfect for my ISH mare next year. I love everything about him, his size and build in particular is a plus as she throws huge foals.

However, I find it slightly concerning that with the amount of mares he has covered (must be over 2000 now) i have not seen or heard a thing about his offspring.

A search on the net brings up one quite nice young colt but other than that diddly squat!

Does anyone know or heard things about his progeny? Or about the stallion?

For anyone who doesn't know, the mare is by Diamond Rock, out of a Trombone mare, 16.1hh 18 yrs next time, showjumped to 1.30m level but quite sharp.

Any opinions welcomed, it could be an expensive mistake!!

Thankies

general opinion seems to be (sorry french is not my strong point!) is that he his a brave and game little horse who goes well with heavier types. Offspring tend to inherit dads desire to work (couldn't think of a better translation) have good front ends and normally make a good shape over the jump. They also need to be kept occupied both physically and mentally - think if you get them on side then they would do anything for you but could cause mischief if left to their own devices

stand to be corrected on the translation

I have seen quite a few flipper offspring, some very nice and some way below average. I think he is the type of stallion who doesn't stamp his offspring and therefore the mare is of even greater importance than normal. In my opinion he needs to be crossed with a very high quality well stamped mare.
As a competition horse I love him. He is awesome against the clock. However he is not an olympic horse, as proved in Athens.
As a sire I have my reservations and would not use him.

The Dutch and Belgians think he's a super stallion and I'd use him if I had the right mare. The Nijhofs used him on their taller rangier mares and had some really good results. I've seen many Flipper foals in Belgium and they have without exception been high quality. He probably doesn't mix too well with mares from his own country. Baloubet was the same, and it could also be said about Quidam de Revel.

If you're drawn to him I'd use him, he's very commercial and has actually had a stallion approval winner and vice-champion (one of which the Nijhofs own), so not quite diddly squat.

Also, he currently ranks fifth in France for his 4-6 year old production in 2008 here's the link http://www.cavadeos.com/download/Pères%20CSO.pdf

in front of some serious stallions you'll note.

Expensive? I don't agree, 700€ per dose? That's dead cheap and it says that subsequent covering cards are only 60% of the dose price. You could get 6 mares pregnant from a dose, that's a bit of a deal in my book.

You should use him.

I know one of his sons GLOCK'S PRINCE DE VAUX and I have to say hes a lovely looking horse with great scope and super careful :) theres a video of GLOCK'S PRINCE DE VAUX on youtube so you can see for yourself and i just bought a 4yr by GLOCK'S PRINCE DE VAUX and hes showing great scope and so also super careful loosejumping 1.60m and jumping a course of a metre...... so for what ive seen with GLOCK'S PRINCE DE VAUX and my baby i'd use him with your mare ;) hope I helped you out:D

he is the only warmblood sf stallion i would use !!!

he has conformation, spirit, great heart, the results in competition, i have seen him win many international comps, a horse who truly should be entire.

i think one of the probs on the continent is they cross him with any and every mare, whereas if selective breeding was practiced the results might be better;

i see him going with a blood mare, who will modify his diverse genetics and control the outcome to some extent, a tb with lots of bone, i see him as compatible mentally with the tb trait of courage and phyical activity, as he has both.

he also has 5 star radio protocole, top bone status.
