Was looking forward to a quiet hack tonight but leading my boy in he was being driven mad by the flies, desperately trying to scratch his head on me and kicking his belly. I washed him off with an antiseptic solution as he seemed to have quite a few flies stuck to his back. I have covered him up in his fly rug and mask and turned him back out, he was far too preoccupied to be safe to ride out and I hate flies landing on me too. Is anyone else being driven completely mad by the little biters, I have to admit I shall be glad to see Autumn:(

Yep. They're so annoying! I tend to avoid sunset rides and turning out around then cos flies are at their worst then! Feeding marmite sandwiches, spraying with Avon Skin So Soft and fly rugs are the only help I'm afraid xx

I've taken to riding my mare in a face fly mask, you know the dark mesh material with holes for ears!? I have tried riding with her in a fly fringe but she is still almost unridable, it may look weird, but she seems to have no problems seeing where she's going and she is at least ridable! **** flies!!! I even broke a branch off a tree last night and used that to swish us both - don't know how other horses would respond to that!!!

hate them my pony gets bitten all down his belly ad on his sheath then he scrathes them an makes himself go raw then it gets infected and goes all full of puss and gets infected he doesnt seem to care but i do lol!!!
