has anyone elses horse had this?

i mean i can see how it can happen but ive had a different person come out as Bogs had sharp edges (can tell by way shes wanting to tilt nose when ridden) and my usual EDT couldnt come out for 3 months.

feel awful, she had quite alot of blood in her mouth and they said it was because they had to go near the gumline???

ive had my normal EDT come every 9months to do my horses since i was 11 yrs old (age undisclosed but not over 30!!lol) and they have never caused bleeding....

Never had a horse bleed (unless a tooth's being removed natch). One of my current horses has really crap teeth that get sharp very easily - he's never bled when having his teeth done, though.

oh gosh i feel awful now. i only went with them as usual one couldnt do them for so long as ive just sold my box so couldnt travel to the clinic (40miles away!)
it was obviously hurting her too as she wanted to go backwards around the box...
are they meant to go near the gumline..?

never had it happen but dont know whether its down to the nature of the horses mouths that i have dealt with
why dont you phone your regular EDT and explain the situation-if they are concerned they will come out or advise getting a vet to have a look.
i would be worried enough to speak to someone in your shoes

shes had her teeth floated 4 times before and been fine. regular EDT commented her mouth is really nice.
and my other 4 horses have always been fine too.
i think i will ask my usual EDT over the phone if its normal to go near the gums/ cut the horse... there was quite a bit of blood and i could see little bits of gum too :(

Thinking about it, I would imagine it's illegal for an EDT to do as you've described. Only a vet can cut into live tissue, so I'd be making a stink about it if I were you.

they were also a vet.
it was unintentional im sure
but i am concerned really they just said they had to go too near the gums as she 'didnt have much tooth' when its never been a problem before....
also they didnt put anything in disinfectant and went straight to do my other mares mouth?! (which they didnt get to see btw)
hope she doesnt remember for next time she gets seen as she is a sensitive mare- she had a bad loading experience once when she was little and it took me months to get her loading normally again.....
