As some of you know I have been through a hideous break up with my ex, he has taken my lurcher Poppy, and I cannot get her back, I would love her back but he has made it clear it will not happen. flodden has never been an only dog, and to be honest I like a pair as they keep each other company. I was planning on getting a bedlington bitch pup to keep him company and as the start of my own breed lines, but that is not a quick decision as I want a particular breed line for her, and it is unlikely that that will be for a long while. But Floddy needs a friend now as he loves to play at speed. So I would like a whippet/ lurcher bitch. Something small as floddy is only about 17 inches to the shoulder, and about his age or younger.

IS anyone aware of one needing a home, I have a small yard, not a garden, but floddy gets 3 - 4 walks a day on lead and one very long run in the fields every day plus he is never left for more than 4 hours at a time. And has a huge circle of doggy friends.

I am looking at rescue as well, but thought I would ask you all if you know of one who needs a loving home.

Sorry cant help, and not sure where you are in the country, but would highly recommend GRWE if you're looking for a rescue, hope you can find him a friend!

Mine have come from Greyhound Gap. It might be worth giving Lisa a ring even if you don't see a dog you think will suit you on their board. When we were looking for a second one I had some quite strict criteria (the dogs travel with me, we have a cat, the older dog would have left home if we'd got something too annoying . . .) and Lisa rang me when she got in a dog she thought would suit what you have to offer.

Well so far the dog rescues I have contacted want Flodden neutered before I can rescue a companion for him, even if I have a neutered bitch from them, as they cannot guarantee I will not breed from Flodden, i may well decide to do so, if and when I do it will be my choice, he will be health checked, he will be DNA tested. and he will only be used on a health tested carefully selected bedlington bitch not a rescue. How dare they insist i neuter my dog! Sanctimonious gits! Looks like I will be buying one not rescuing one!

If you can find out where your local dog warden takes their pick ups that can be a way to find one. Rescues wouldn't let me have a dog as we had young children so I spoke to the dog warden, found a funny little kennels locally and they had Sash. The woman running the kennels was really nice and very sensible, I didn't have a home check as we knew a couple of mutual prople but she seemes a lot more reaistic than the bigger places. We agreed to have Sash spayed, although it wasn't checked up on.

I ended up buying a second as the rescue centres were insisting I neuter my first, and I wouldn't until he was at least two. Really annoyed me too!
