Floods: has everyone survived OK??

As title really.

We seem to have had quite a bit here in the West (sorry should say WET-country). The river that I saw (River Otter) had burst its banks - apparently a local farmer lost five heifers which were swept away in the floodwater.

Apparently Axminster area also badly affected.

Soooo..... is everyone out there OK? Horses/dogs as well?

Sending hugs if not. Fortunately we're on the side of a hill here, so whilst everything comes down through our place thank god it doesn't stay - can't imagine how awful it must be to have water coming in where you live or where the livestock is.

My field has a river going through it which came up over but i let my ponies out of their electric paddock so they could get up onto the hill, unfortunately the drainage pipe couldn't cope either and overflowed into the middle of the field nearly up to my knees today has been quite sunny so luckily the worst of it has gone, the middle is still ankle deep but I can cope With that

Wet wet wet! The river Soar looks more like a lake. The fields either side can't absorb any more water. We rode through the flooded roads today and it was up to the cobs tum at one point. Luckily he loves trotting through water and makes quite a splash. It's not good though and we've more rain coming I think.

A few ponds and lakes in the fields (comes after 3 inches of rain in 2 days!!), a few small floods to drive through - nothing too major!
And a minor 'damp' problem in the stables ...coping, just. Have asked him up there to turn the taps off now, whether he heard or not I don't know!

Drove down to Weymouth yesterday, now that was slightly scary! We passed this;

We've not got it so bad up here, rain water is just lying. We did have the floods back in November which caused the river to burst , demolishing a bridge , and sweeping away 2 cows and several sheep . I was hacking further on down the river not long after it in flat fields and either side was amass with trees! Not even branches, actuall trees! It only occured to me several minutes later as to where they all came from. Nature is amazing at times.

My share ponies field is right next to the river banks, fortunately it went over at the other side! All the sheep were taken off before the worst hit and the paddock is about 1/4 submerged by ankle deep water but ponio and his donkey friends aren't bothered in the slightest! And luckily the little duck and her ducklings are still in the pond

the fields are all sodden with a good inch or 2 of surface water in places, thankfully the stream which runs through the farm hasn't burst it's banks yet, my poor friend gets totally flooded in her fields if it does.
The river Avon hasn't flooded here either yet,although we're soggy underfoot we seem to have got off lightly compared to some.

Yes Axminster was bad, local estates flooded which have never flooded before. It was scary seeing your house about to go under water and the local fire service giving up as the water was just rising. Field next to house also had cows washed away. Sinks and toilet in the house surging like they are about to over flow and kids so scared they are shaking at what was going on in our quiet estate. Never want it to happen again

I feel so lucky! We have had quite a lot of rain, but it all seems to have disappeared quite quickly. I think it was so dry before, the aquifers are still filling (although the local reservoir looks pretty full to me). Horses' field is ok, very little sitting on the surface and the paths through the woods are fine to ride, as well.

Indeed, we still have a hose-pipe ban in place!!

We're in the east but have had bad flooding- it has actually missed the stables as they're up a slight hill, but the back of our house flooded last night- we're building an extension so only have a temporary wall there- apparently not waterproof! Have spent the day hoovering up puddles and mopping. The poor ponies have been stood in a mini-river in their normally dry fields- we even have good land drainage but it didn't seem to be doing much today!

we've had a lot of localised flooding and a few of the smaller rivers have burst their banks,
This is the river Leet in Coldstream, and that is a bridge in the middle of the pic, usually the water sits a good 5ft below it.

But thankfully the main River ( Tweed ) that causes most problems hasnt gone over, but has been very very close, water level with the road It has thankfully dropped a fair few feet today.

Aww so sad that the farmers have lost livestock poor things but i do feel for everyone affected by mother nature thinking of all the chickens, rabbits etc that had no where else to go makes me real sad

It's fine down here in Swansea, had some wet weather yesterday, no flooding though and today had a beautiful ride in the sunshine! Hope everyone affected by the floods is ok though!
