After checking the weather forecast at 9pm last night and seeing heavy rain all night I dashed up to the yard and brought the shetlands in. Oh my word, at 7am today their field was 99% under water, some of the 3ft electric fence posts were under water, others just showing above. The ponies could have been in real trouble, I'm so glad I went with my gut feeling and brought them in! The water extends across the lower fields and is very deep, fortunately no horses in there.

The roads are horrible, any slight dip is flooded, one place too deep for my little car so had to use alternative route. Still raining!

No rain here and we could really do with some, but perhaps not as much as you. Glad you got your ponies inside. I take it your stales are on higher ground than your grazing.

I feel a bit indecisive while reading your post.
Hypothetically, if your Shetlands knew that their field would be 99% flooded, and some of the fencing under water, I can't decide if it would make them feel grateful for that you followed your gut feeling, and brought them in, or if they would view it as a missed opportunity for a great escape by swimming over the fence to go out on some escapades?

Either way, I hope the flooding goes away as quickly as it came, and that it haven't caused too much damage.
