Does anyone know whereabouts in Lancashire the recent Flu outbreak is?

On 18 April 2019, AHT confirmed an outbreak of EI on a premises in Lancashire. There are two
unvaccinated non-Thoroughbred laboratory confirmed positives from one premises that presented with
coughing, nasal discharge and pyrexia. There are approximately six premises within the vicinity, with a
total of around 70 horses, with the majority of these being unvaccinated. Clinical signs have been reported
in multiple horses in this vicinity over the last few weeks. Severity of signs are predominantly mild to
moderate with coughing and nasal discharge, but a few cases have required

There is one laboratory confirmed positive by PCR on a nasopharyngeal swab. There are 6 young horses in
the index group and this group received a new arrival last week which presented with clinical signs of
coughing shortly after arrival. There is also a further number of horses in another group on the premises,
which are also displaying clinical signs. The premises has instigated voluntary movement restrictions and
these will remain in place until two weeks after resolution of clinical signs in the group

Vaccinate and you won't have a problem.

But I would have thought that a yard with 70+ unvaccinated horses is probably fairly well known locally. You are not going to be talking about a professional yard!

One yard in the Blackpool area has said they have it and the vets have said more is about including vaccinated horses.

There are more unconfirmed cases at a different yard with vaccinated horses. I assume this will come to light over the next few days.

Keep up vaccinations. Keep good biosecurity and be careful of which events you choose to attend.
