my horse who is really thin skinned has a fly bite on her face that she keeps rubbing.she has a fly mask as we have had this before and i have now bought the cashel crusader because its bigger and covers the wound as the flies were eating her alive. it just starts to heal up then she rubs it and opens it up again and its totally stressing me out especially as im going away in 2 weeks and a friend will take over.any ideas on what i can do to help it heal quicker. i have had this twice before always this time of year and took months to heal before.

Use black wound powder on the bites

I'd give Coopers Fly Repellant stuff a go, its about £25.00 a bottle, stops the flys, helps with itching (as its supposed to help sweet itch and also kills lice and mites) anyway back to orignal question, it may prevent your horse from rubbing her face and aggravating the wounds...hence vicious circle.

Would not put it directly onto the wound though..obviously, do a patch test (as recomended by manufacturer) but you could use it around the wounds etc.

I have used it on many different kind of rubs/fly bits/ itchy things on some of the horses down at the livery yard where I keep my hors, all with great results!
