Fly bites. What do you use?

Hi, my thoroughbred must have very tasty blood!! she keeps getting covered in fly bites. i have been using equine america fly repellent which seems to help but doesnt soothe the bites when she gets them + they are coming up in big lumps + we have a show coming up next week! so does anyone know of a really good fly repellent? or some gel or cream that would help to take them down? thank you.
 
A few days ago I could not have answered this. Poppy has had an enormous fly bite on her belly. (Really huge and hard). We have been lathering it in anti histamine cream and Sudacreme and it has just about gone now.
 
my tb has the same thing, they come up huge on him but he has been lucky so far this year. i use NAF deet spray which is the best i have had so far. and i use either aloe vera on the bites or bite cream from global herbs. have u got a fly rug you can pop on before your show so she doesnt get bitten.
ETS- just seen your post about fly rug lol. i would pop that on a couple of days before so you dont get any big bites come up.
 
I find Barrier fly spray all over and Barrier fly cream along the midline under the belly seem to do the trick around us, we suffer hellishly with the midges but thankfully only periodically suffer with horse flies. Didn't rate the NAF deet or lincoln ones.
 
I have to say I have the same problem with my mare getting bitten badly and the fabulous mark Todd ultra combo fly rug that she usually wears was definitely too thick for her in the heat of last week so I bought her a cheaper, lightweight mesh fly rug ( saxon combo from frogpool manor, on line) and that with her fly mask keeps the worst of the flies at bay. Good luck
 
i use power phaser fly spray to keep the flys away if she does get bitten apply loads of tea tree or aloe to the arera!
 
was using naf deet, it will now be going down the toilet, our boys skin has had a reaction to it.
Have now bought coopers fly repellant to give that a go
