Fly has ringbone. I have a meeting with my vet on Tuesday to discuss options re shoeing etc. Here are a couple of pics of his xrays, any knowledgeable info greatfully received, ie, what questions do I ask etc. Poor Fly Boy.

My friends mare got diagnosed last year, went sound over the winter, but as the ground hardend up shes lame again.

Be pre-pared for lots of ups and downs x

My boy was diagnosed with slight ring and sidebone about five years ago now, he was very short in trot on circles, I was told by my vet that it was possibly him being welsh and very bouncy when he was younger because Id always been very careful about what I did on firm ground. He instructed pads in front and bute a two or three times a week, depending on what we were doing, and ordered me to treat him as a normal horse. Once I stopped panicking I did just that and at 20 he's still going strong and touch wood, he's been sound ever since. We jump and school on a surface, do the occasional dressage comp (unaff) and he still bounces everywhere. I thought it was the end of the world but it really doesnt have to be. Sorry I dont understand xrays but he has a bump in the same place so maybe thats it, I really should be more informed, what a rubbish mother :(

Fingers crossed you'll have the same positive outcome x

My mare has had ringbone for the last 6 years and I hack/hunt her as normal and normal shoes. If she has a off day I just give her a couple off days off and works well for her. But hers is false ringbone, not on joint.
