Today I took Fly for nerve blocks and xrays. He has ringbone. Now I do not know if it is articular or non-articular, was far too shell shocked to pay attention. He has low grade lameness on his near fore and there is some arthritic change to his pastern joint. I have an appointment booked with my vet on Tuesday to discuss "options". Somebody tell me something good, is there a future after this? Actually, he will always have a home here with me but I am hoping that this is not the end of our time together jumping. I do not even mind if it is on a surface under 3ft, i just want to have fun with him again. He is my horse of a lifetime and is only 14. Tell me your experiences, good or bad.

Sorry to hear about your boy. My friend's horse has ring bone, not sure if there are different types?, but she still rides hers and up until fairly recently was doing long distance rides. She couldn't jump him and had to careful on hard ground. Hope all goes well with your boy x

Sorry to hear about your horse. I think there is no way of knowing if they will be able to jump but if they do then it should be small and on a surface. It is up to you how much jumping etc you do as the more you do the faster it will get worse e.g. you could jump 1.40m grand prixs but the horse would not go on for very long.

P.s. I stand to be corrected on any of this it is just what I was told with my horse but he also has other problems as well...
