I need a new fly mask for Ellie. She hates the mesh ones as she has very poor eyesight and the mesh limits her eyesight further, but she is fine with one with ears and tassles over the eyes. Unfortunately the one she had was part of a Boet sweetitch rug combination and it has fallen to bits. She doesn't need a sweetitch rug btw.

Is there anywhere I can get a mask with tassles over the eyes instead of mesh? I don't want the ones that attach to head collars as she doesn't wear one in the field.

Help!

Why don't you ring snuggy hoods, they are very flexible - they make a turnout head that could be adapted to have the same eye fringe as their sweetitch body. worth a try...

I am so glad you asked this because I have the same problem with my old horse. I use and Aerborn fly fringe. They are fieldsafe and will break if necessary but don't need a headcollar. Do a search and they come up.

However in my opinion they could be a lot longer (they are far too short specially after they have been washed!) and I am looking for something that will cover the muzzle as my lad gets very irritated by flies around there.

My mare has cataracts in both eyes and I was reluctant to use a full mask as didnt want to impare her limited vision. I tried various things as i wanted something with ears as she hates flys around her ears. The aerborn one doesnt stay in place, didnt want to use ears and a headcollar so i got a shires full face mask and popped it on her and adjusted it etc it has a section of fleece at the forehead and the nose with mesh in between, I care fully cut the mesh into fine strips on one side but leaving a thicker centre section down the middle of her face, then did the same the other side. It works a treat as long as you dont mind destroying fly masks! the shires ones are on ebay for 5.99.
My horses do like to challenge me last year i was making false mane pieces for one horse and adapted fly masks for the other!!
I hope that make sense?? I will try get a picture for you.

The Quiet Ride fly masks are very very fine mesh and don't impair vision at all - you could try one of those perhaps? It is full face but meant for riding so must be good vision?
