I need fly mask recommendations for a thin skinned Arab. At the moment she has an equilibrium mask, but it leaves a nasty ridge across her nose no matter how loosely I fasten it. Meanwhile, her Cashel mask rubs her poor nose (across the centre where the dish is). I bought a Shires mask recently which in principle I really like the look of, but I really dislike the elastic section they have added behind the ears (why???). On both her and the Welsh it just seemed like it would maybe squeeze them a little bit and be uncomfortable there. The premier equine one looks too similar to the Cashel mask so I'm worried it will rub. Has anyone tried the Lemieux Comfort Shield mask? I like the look of the sheepskin, but can't tell from the pictures if it looks like it has elastic round the ears like the Shires one.

Unfortunately she needs to wear her mask most of the time because she has a fly allergy and gets conjunctivitis really easily. But I need something that won't rub her. I bought her a Cashel mask 15 years ago which was fabulous and fit really well without rubbing, but they must have changed the design because this new one rubs badly!

I don't use them much these days but the only fly mask I liked was the rambo one-my old horse had ear plaques as a youngster so he wore them throughout fly season for a few years with no issues-he was fairly thin skinned -lusitano.

I use the Shires one on all my ponies, the elastic section is not tight and doesn’t bother any of them. (One is an Arab x with very fine hair that tends to get rubbed by most things!)

I just worried it might rub - maybe I'll try it on the Welsh as the one I got was too big for her anyway. I think she'd need a pony sized!

I have used many mask for my pink skin gelding by far the best for us are the premier equine masks. I bought several in the sale so always got a clean one. They never rub provide full protection and he always keeps it on.

Iv'e got a dish faced , thin skinned Arab too and i buy the Harrison Howard one with ears and nose ( cob size is perfect), it never rubs him and the ear holes are padded along with a strip of sheepskin across the forehead and a soft binding around the nose, iv'e found most others either rub around the ears or on his cheek bones but these never do and the quality is great for the price( Amazon or Ebay )
Have to say iv'e never used the Premier Equine masks but looking at them just now they do look good too
