Just wondered if anyone has tried this stuff suposed to be brilliant and good for sweet itch suferers.
I bought a bottle the guy was very helpfull and said it was ok to use on sensative bits etc and worked well for horses that suffers from sweet itch, but it has all kinds of warnings on the lable and even says not to use on animals!!!!! im scared to use it now :-/

They are selling it for equestrian use, so how can it be unsuitable for animals? Maybe contact the manufacturer? I've never heard of it, I'm always interested in anything to help sweetitch.

nope definatly spray it on animlas, i asked re the sweet itch pony as he bites inbetween his back legs and the seller made a phone call and got back to me.

He said its fine for that sort of thing just put it on a cloth and wipe round tha face etc, said it was also good for spraying round the stable doors helps keep the midges out...

The fact that it only needs to be applyed once a fortnignt and its waterproof unless horse bathed i thought was brilliant, apparantly it collects at the hair folicles and stays put, it also isnt greasy, bonus :-)

Maybe il give him another ring to make sure and to find out why there are so many warnings on the bottle :-/

It does sound good , the only thing i would worry about is on the list of ingredients it says 93% other ingredients - so what are they? I will say though that anything with pyrethrin in is good for midges etc , if you do get some , could you keep us posted as anything that deters the midges would be great for our lot , thanks..

Ive got a bottle sitting in my tack room cup[board but just a bit worried about using it.. :-/
Im going to give the manufacturers a call tomorrow... ill keep you informed :-)

tried the marmite thing a couple of years ago, put it on some bread, he didnt like it, so i put it in his food, didnt notice any difference to be honest.
The pony is out on loan at the moment, ill tell hern to try brewers yeast ,ive heard linseed is supossed to be good as well :-)

We suffered terribly with flies last year, in the end after trying from homemade to yellow gloop to 'toadjuice' (incidentally was the best out of the lot) I asked farmer if I could try some of his cow's fly stuff.

You drop it on the dorsal hair from poll to tail. Brilliant. No adverse reactions to speak of but he's not a sweet-itcher - no reason you can't try a patch test. there is one you can get from vet too - once monthly application!! £56.

Anyway, we changed his diet last year for other reasons and normally by now he would be bleeding all over (especially sheath area) from midge bites and strangely enough, there's not one pimple on him and we are thick with midges as we are right next to a running brook and in a damp valley. .................. . .probably totally unrelated but ineteresting isn't it?

I don't think the diet is unrelated at all. I avoid garlic and alpha with my sweetitch pony. What did you change the diet of yours to?

From: Alfa-a + F4F + fastfibre.

To: Hi-fi. Handful after exercise only since moving pasture a month ago.

(blood test revealed liver abnormalities showed up as swelling, LGL, dull coat, thick yellow wee - he was quite poorly - originally tested for another lami attack! To think I fed F4F to prevent it!!!!)

I've just started using it (last 3 weeks) on my very sensitive-skinned mare, no problems, sprayed on her body and just wiped via hand over face and ears, no reactions at all. Came across it because it's an American brand and the company has done quite a lot of Quarter Horse show sponsorship in the last year via its UK distributor. I understand it is designed for both on-animal and environmental use (in stables etc) and is supposed to zap most things, my concern right now is that the midges are appearing and my mare can get really badly bothered by midges and flies. But we got out hacking this weekend without her being bothered, so that's a big bonus compared to what I've tried on her before.

I used to bring this back from the US. Its great. But it will wash off in the rain etc. You need to reapply.

So pleased I can now buy this here.

for last 2 years used baby oil - rubbed in every 2 days - and my mare who suffers sweetitch bad as been good - mmmmm does the oil make her slide rather than rub - who knows but hey it works lol
