My horse is plagued by flys and the fly repellents I have tried have a pathetically low impact. I have tried all sorts from the most expensive to the cheapest. Help? Anyone had any experience of one that works???

The problem is they wear off quite fast. My horse has sweet itch so she wears a boett. If she goes out for even half an hour without the rug, she walks back to the gate and complains until I put the rug on. I think a good fly rug is better than sprays.

When I hack, I use the NAF pure DEET. It seems quite effective.

its all trail and error what works for one may not work 4 another if you have not tried net tex or barrier fly sprays do i find them the best!

Deosect. It appears expensive but needs a lot of diluting. It is the best I have ever tried and I know many many people converted to it from recommendations.

Hey, i find that the best thing to do is to but citronella from your chemist and mix it with water yourself. You can make alarge amount and this way you know there are no added chemicals etc! Best thing about it is that its REALLY cheap and WORKS!!

I use Deosect after the vet recommended it for a friends gelding who keeps getting a maggoty sheath

power phaser works for me...and lasts for ages but it does make me feel slightly ill so i try not to use it often as it might make my horses feel ill as well!

I have tried lots and lots of types over the yrs. Coopers Green is the one I have settled for. You buy it in a bottle and administer over the body with a sponge. You then don't need to apply for another several days.

Make your own...equal parts of white wine vinager and water (about 1 bottle), a squirt of washing up liquid to help it mix and add different essential oils such as lavender and citranela! It really works and you know theres nothing harmful in it!
