Fly rug repair

Has anyone ever replaced the silky lining on a fly rug? Mine has an amigo bug rug which is still in perfectly good condition but the silky bits in the inside are completely shredded. I don’t want to buy a new one and would prefer not to add a separate shoulder guard when he wears it. So before next summer I would like to see if I can get it repaired. Is this a thing?! I have no sewing skills. Or do I buy a new one whilst they are on sale?

I’d not be able to do it but I’m sure it’s do- able and if you have the skills why not give it a try. If it fails you buy a new one or use a bib nothing to loose.

I'd think anyone doing normal rug repairs would be able to throw a line of stitches in there, if you don't want to risk it yourself. Local person does basic repairs for like £20 I think?

I have one that needs the same thing and am going to ask the OH to try it. I dont care if its pretty tho

I would have a look at the sales and see what you can get at a reduced price.
