I've decided to get Bailey a fly rug this year; he has a sarcoid which is being treated and although I know there is no "cure" once they have had one once, I know flies can be a cause with the Sarcoma (sp?) virus and I just want to do as much as I can...guess some would call it wrapping him in cotton wool!

I've been having a look online and so confused as to which is a good brand etc. I've had a look at the Rambo one but there seems to be a pretty big gap between neck cover and chest. The weatherbeeta Supa Fly rug looks pretty good but I don't know whether the back of the rug round the hind legs is long enough?

Also, needs to pretty durable as Bailey is going through a nasty phase of trashing at the moment (getting the sewing kit out AGAIN tomorrow!).

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! :D

My rug killing pony gets really nasty sweetitch on just her mane and tail, Ramba sweetitch hoody is the only one that has stod the test of time on her.

I also have a Mark Todd as a back up which was used while the Ramba got washed and I was pleased with that one as well.

the mark todd one is very thick, makes mine far too hot.

im going for a Rambo Protector when i get a new one, as the mesh is slightly more plastic-y which my boy finds cooler and not so static either.

the amigo ones are very good value for money but the weave is slightly finer so its a much clingier rug.

I've just stocked up for summer :) on JHL ones for £20, yes £20 from Old Dairy Saddlery. So bought 4, one for each of them :) They fit great (generous neck covers that are perminant) and seem hardwearing, although only time will tell!
