I need to buy a new fly rug, I currently have an Aerborn one which has lasted a good year but the neck cover is torn almost off and it has started to slip back and now the straps are rubbing on her chest, so I think that it is time to do some shopping

I was thinking of getting a Amigo Mio one but wanted to know what other people recommend first.

It cant be too think as she gets hot and it needs to be quite tough as it is on all of the time, also a under belly attachment would be handy although I think I could live without the neck cover as I've heard that some can rub the mane off

Mark Todd - it is quite heavyweight but my sweaty beast is completely fine in it and wears it about 20 hrs a day and it gives good belly coverage. Neck has an elastic insert so no mane rubbing.

i had the amigo bug rug for two summers, and it died this year- fabulous rug, light weight, didnt slip, and washed well
so bought the amigo mio, which is also fab. doesnt move, offers excellent protection, washes in the machine, V good vaule for money imo

im sure it wont last for years, but it only cost £30

no it doesnt, just a normal rug shape, but deeper, with cross surcingles.
i think a weatherbeeta one has a belly flap

i've got the Rambo Sweetitch Hoody, it's a bit more expensive but considering the cheapo one i had before was getting trashed after a few months, and this has been on for a month or two and is still undamaged, i think it's worth the extra dosh. mare is out in it 24/7 and her mane is beautifully shiny and unrubbed. the material is sturdier than normal mesh ones, but she never gets hot in it. really impressive.

I'd recommend the Amigo Mio- great value for money and comes up well after washes. Friend also uses one, and her troublesome youngster is out in it 24/7, and apart form being muddy and having a few small rips/tears it's doing quite well!

I use the amigo bug rug, simply because i know the brand and i got it cheap from derbyhouse

I have the Amigo bug rug, but I have to admit, my mum bought a cheap shires one (£29,99) because her horse trashes everything, and i'm quite impressed with it. Its lightweight, with a rigid strip from the ears to the wither to keep the neck piece up, and fits her a treat!
