Fly sheets in hot weather??

Hi all,

I felt really guilty yesterday and this morning with this heat leaving my yearling out in the field, I know its where she wants to be and she hates being left in the stable since we moved yards, she loved it in the winter at the old yard, couldnt wait to get in but obviously there was no grass to be munching on!!

So I am thinking what else I can do to help her stay cool, do these white fly rugs with the UV protection actually help to keep them cool or am I just putting another layer on an already hot horse??

I have Mark Todd one and it definitely keeps my gelding cooler than he would be without it on. Can't comment on any other brands.

I have a Mark Todd fly sheet (no UV) and I find it keeps her cooler, she's bay and her fly rug is white.

The fly sheet shouldn't cause overheating & the flys can be terrible. I use fly masks aswell.

She does have a fly mask and the flys in general dont seem to bother her that much (we dont have a lot really) I am purely just after something to keep her cooler.
