Following the few very nice days we have had I would like to invest in some fly spray (makes it feel more like summer!) I was wondering if anyone had ever used Horse and Cattle Fly Repellent Liquid? Or Coopers?

Thanks!

:D

We have had an insane amount of midges lately and I just thought I'd mention that Equimins Biting Midge Cream is amazingly effective! Bit of a chore to put on though and I have a spray as well, but just thought it's worth mentioning for anyone with the same problem. :)

Is the spray you use Equimins aswell? They do an extra strength formula that has been on trial in far east - worth a go?

Ooh, I'm not sure actually! I can't remember what brand it is, it's in a blue and yellow bottle. It does work but I think probably not as effectively as the cream. Obviously, the bonus of spray is that it's easy to put on... unless your horses are like mine and go insane at spray and you have to spray onto a sponge instead. :P

We're trying diluted TCP this year. Has only been a few days so can't give a definitive answer as to whether it works but I can smell it as soon as I get out of the car at the yard so I can't believe its not keeping the flies off.

I start spraying my horse's mane an tail about now once a day to stop midges then I use home made fly spray

citronella oil - tablespoon
tea - 1 pint of strong tea
lavender oil - tablespoon
vinegar - small cup full
avon skin so soft bath oil - about 3rd of bottle
all mixed together and topped up with water in a 2 litre pop bottle
