Just wondering which fly sprays people find most effective against flies and midges, as pony has sensitive skin. Have tried Naf Off but doesn't seem to help much, and pony finds fly fringe annoying!
I made my own this year and its just as good as the shelf product and I can lather it on without worrying about the cost.No bites in site -bearing in mind that he is tb and very fine coated .
4 tea bags to pint and a half water
white wine vinegar(left over in cuboard but any would do)1/4 bottle
squirt of baby oil
squirt of fairy liquid
citronella oil 12 drops
tea tree oil 12 drops
eucyalptus(sorry cant sp)12 drops
half a bottle of avon skin so soft dry oil spray if available -you can buy of ebay £2.50 a bottle
Seems to work well on mine no bites like last year when I tried all the best on the market.
I use neem oil from ebay pure neem I think the place is called-the horse wash one pure neem oil - Boil a kettle fil up spary bottle (garden centre plant sprayers) add about 10 ml of neem oil it solidifies hence the boiled water and a dash of citronella oil let cool down put lid on sake an voila! no fly bites/stings on my beasts all summer as its water based can put loads on -I think a whole bottle amounts to a cost of 50p if that so bargain. I wont be buying fly sparys again from the tack shop.
