Tonight because of the hot and humid weather the flying ants and their little friends have all made an appearance.

I have delt with the ones around the house, any safe ideas on how to rid the paddock of them, I have never seen soo many especially the horrid red ones.

A flame thrower is best, but not really feasible with 'osses in the fields! :D

On a serious note, I don't think theres much you CAN do, except make sure your 'osses are well-covered with fly sheets or drenched in spray to hopefully repel them.....

..mind you, IF you can locate the nest, you can blow it up, like my OH does when we find nests.....crowbar down the middle, as far as you can get.....petrol down the hole, then stand well back, throw on a lighted match and keep the animals away! Not advisable if your grass is pretty long and dry though....!

There were thousands of the little beggers here this afternoon!!
The onley consolation is they should be all gone by tomorrow........
... I hope!

Hahahahaha!

When I was with the ex, years ago, we had a nice little terraced house in the city near where I live now, and had just painted all the back with a nice ivory masonary paint. In the kitchen we were getting ants, damn things....tried everything....

THEN ex discovered they were coming UP from outside, and under the brickwall, so as there were cracks in the concrete leading up to the house wall (downstairs loo was situated here at the back of the kitchen) so he said he would pour down petrol and fry them....

I refused, my paint was only a week old!

Ok....said he....and I went back inside.

About 5 minutes later, I heard a 'WWWWWHHHOOOOOOPFFFFF!' and rushed outside to see a cloud akin to a nuclear explosion rising from the back.....and ran round to find.....ex had lost his eyebrows, his fringe, singed his clothes, the walls were black.....but never an ant returned! What a muppet....! :D

Maybe I attracted men who like blowing things up...??

Thats a worrying thought....!
