I've finally been bucked off my horse. Ow Ow Ow quite abit of me is hurting and i'm dreading how stiff i'm going to be tomorrow :(

A quiet schooling session or so i thought! turned into a bucking bronco session! well, to be honest it was two substantial bucks that did it, the second one sending me skyward.

I do remember seeing blue sky and thinking "oh my God, i'm falling off"

I held onto the reins for all of 10 seconds, the hooves above me made me let go - bit of a mistake really as it took me 20 mins to catch the devil - he did demonstate some lovely moves as he was avoiding capture, so i know he has potential. We were in the jumping paddock (not jumping i hasten to add!) and its quite a big paddock so he gave me a right old workout!

I got back on and took him for a short hack. I am now wondering if at 47 i'm just a little to old to be hitting the deck and perhaps i shouldn't be trying to school such an opinionated young man! Sorry for babbling and a Voka & Coke those of you who have got this far.

Ride at your showjumping length on a horse that bucks. You need to be able to stand up and away from their catapult actions.

I appreciate being very lucky on this occassion. I don't suppose i'll think that tomorrow though!! :)

Fortunately the paddock has a good grass covering and we've had so much rain the landing had some give in it, which had to help.

He's never done such a big buck before & i've usually sat them with ease but i definately had air this time.

Thinking of wearing my back protector when i ride him now. i don't bounce like i used to. I did think it a bit wossy but now i'm seriously considering it.

There's no shame in wearing a body protector! You're schooling a young horse who you now know has history of bucking you off so wearing one, even when schooling on the flat, until he's learnt a few more manners, is just common sense! :p
Glad you're ok though, I'm sure he'll grow out of it in time. He sounds like a right little monkey refusing to be caught afterwards!
