Well, what a manic week I have had. On Tuesday I moved house and had my youngster delivered. Who in their right mind would arrange to do both on the same day?! Er, me...
Finlay is settling in fairly well. He has been very timid so far, but he was being very inquisitive towards my shavings fork this evening. Oh, not to mention he decided to go hunting today and ploughed through a hedge in his field. But it was harmless high spirits and he was captured fairly quickly!
No internet at home, so I will try and get some pictures over the weekend and upload them on monday. He definately needs a before and after!! I very much doubt he has ever seen a grooming brush or a pair of scissors!
But he is not well handled yet, so I can save all that for the next weeks.
This week we are mostly working on leading, and being touched by hand all over. He has great manners in the stable, but so far is very "looky" when being led. We had a good minute or so this morning where he stared at the stationary plough in the field I was leading him through - just in case it posed any danger! Wish me luck - I think I'm going to need it...
For those of you that no idea what I'm talking about, I have just become the proud owner of a 2yo Irish draught gelding. He is standing at about 15.2 currently, and has already grown since I first saw him a month ago. He was brought over from Ireland last year and been living out in a herd at stud since the summer.
I presume he is going to be a tough one, as on the way to the new yard he went without travel boots and managed to break the gate on a 13 tonne box... I think he was a bit unhappy about being tied up!
